SLICE3D project members from the University of Ljubljana (UL) and from the Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia (SMA) have been actively involved in the organisation of the exhibition entitled “Surveying Instruments and Equipment: 200 Years of The Cadastre in Slovenian Lands”, performed on December 11-15, 2017, in the building of the Slovenian National Assembly.
The opening of the exhibition took place on December 11, 2017, where the President of the National Assembly, Dr. Milan Brglez, gave a welcome address as the host of the event. During his speech, he outlined the importance of the surveying profession for the prosperity of the society. He emphasized the role of the real property administration system as well as of the national spatial data infrastructure for decision makers at different levels – from the strategic level down to the every day decisions. He continued, that the development of the profession, which was evident also from the exhibited surveying instruments and equipment used in the Slovenian lands, had always been connected with the challenges of technological development and changeable requirements of the society.
The importance of the spatial data infrastructure together with know-how and excellent solutions in this field were outlined also by the President of the Slovenian Surveying Association, Mag. Blaž Mozetič, and Director General of the Surveying and Mapping Authority of the Republic of Slovenia, Anton Kupic.
